Finding Strength in Empowerment: My Personal Journey International Women’s Day 8 March 2025

As we approach International Women’s Day, I find myself reflecting deeply on the journey that led me to where I am today and the importance of celebrating the authentic power within every woman. This special day is not just about the achievements we see on the surface but also about honouring the inner battles we fight and the love we must nurture within ourselves.

Growing up, I was surrounded by complex dynamics that shaped me into the woman I am today. My childhood home was often filled with echoes of gossip and drama—forces driven by my mother, whose narcissistic tendencies meant she was often the first to throw me under the bus when the going got tough. And she did this many times!! It was a challenging environment where independence felt like a distant dream, and believing in myself seemed like an uphill battle.

Despite this chaotic backdrop, I was fortunate to have a circle of extraordinary women who became my guiding lights. My aunt, godmother, and grandmother each provided different but equally powerful examples of what it means to be empowered and empowering. Their strength wasn’t just in their formidable presence but in their unwavering support and love, qualities I have come to cherish deeply.

My aunt, a force of nature, taught me resilience and the power of self-reliance. She consistently made me feel understood and valued. My godmother, with her boundless kindness, showed me the transformative power of empathy and unconditional love. And my grandmother, with her wisdom and grace, instilled in me the importance of standing firm in my beliefs and values. These women didn’t just guide me; they lifted me up, teaching me to soar against the odds. Ahhhh $#%@ the tears as I write this.

With time, I realised that I didn’t need to replicate the cycles of drama and gossip. Instead, I began to actively choose the path of empowerment and support—a path inspired by these incredible women. To this day, gossip doesn’t just make me uncomfortable; it feels like a toxin. My insides burn at the thought of being part of anything that diminishes rather than uplifts. My soul craves harmony and the kind of positive energy that builds rather than breaks.

In my life and through my business, I’ve made it my mission to create an environment where women feel seen, heard, and empowered. At Love You Well, we’re committed to celebrating every woman and her unique journey. Our initiative, “Empowered Women Empower Women,” is more than a theme; it’s a call to action. We thrive on uplifting others, knowing that each act of support creates a ripple effect of harmony and growth in the world.

When women empower each other, we don’t just light up our own lives; we ignite a beacon of strength and inspiration for others. We create communities built on trust, encouragement, and mutual respect—an antidote to the gossip and drama that too often encroaches on our lives.

Today, I stand with immense gratitude for the women who showed me the power of true empowerment. I’ve chosen to carry their torch, to mirror their influence, and to pass it on to future generations. It is my hope that through love, support, and empowerment, we can continue to bring more harmony into the world, one woman at a time.

With enduring love and appreciation,

Anastasia Heggie
